Hi, I’m Roman.
I make games work.

I’m a game developer working with Godot, Unity and Kaplay.js. I like the part where code becomes something a player can feel: a responsive control, a character with a life of their own, a world that reacts.

The work.

Two games on Steam, a city prototype, and three mobile projects. Here’s what I worked on and what you can see for yourself.

Hackathon project · 2 weeks

A city that reacts to what happens in it.

I built this prototype in two weeks. The NPCs have their own histories, and I connected their conversations to Gemini so they can respond to the player, the weather and events around town.

I also wrote the traffic system—routes, stops and parking—and a cloud and rain shader controlled by the game. It’s rough in places, as a two-week build should be, but the systems are there and running together.

Tulpa the Unseen Lover

My role: sole programmer

A choice-driven story blending romance, comedy and psychological horror. The project is under NDA, so I can only discuss details already public on Steam.

Made for mobile

I was the solo programmer on these projects. I also kept track of completed work and explained changes when needed.

Fruit arcade

A small arcade game with lives, scoring and a clear win screen.

Bread Jump

Jump timing, coins and hazards in a compact mobile platformer.

Idle game prototype

A portrait game built around resource growth and upgrades.

Need another pair of hands on your game?

I can take a mechanic from a rough idea to a working prototype, build out systems in an existing project, or handle the programming on a smaller game.

01

Gameplay

Controls, interactions, UI and the moment-to-moment loop players actually touch.

02

Game systems

Dialogue, AI behavior, progression, traffic and effects that react to game state.

03

Clear handoff

I document what I finish and can walk you through how it works, so the project stays understandable.

I’m Roman Matskailo.

I work across PC, mobile and web games. My projects range from a visual novel to arcade games to a city full of NPCs and moving parts. I enjoy that range: each project brings a different problem to solve.

When I’m the only programmer, I take care of the less visible part of the job too—tracking what’s done, explaining decisions and making it easier for someone else to pick up the work.

Tell me about your game.

A short message is enough to start. What are you building, and where could you use help?
